Urban Grind
Urban Grind is a coffee shop created for modern creatives, students, and professionals seeking a calm, welcoming space to work, study, and connect. Inspired by mid-century modern and Bauhaus design principles, the brand balances clean functionality with warmth and personality, creating an environment that feels both productive and approachable.
The Challenge
The challenge was to develop a visual identity that stood apart from the typical industrial coffee shop aesthetic while still feeling contemporary and relevant. The brand needed to communicate inclusivity, quality, and community while appealing to an audience that values thoughtful design and comfortable spaces.
The Solution
I developed a brand system rooted in simplicity, structure, and warmth. Drawing inspiration from Bauhaus geometry and mid-century modern interiors, I incorporated subtle arches, bold typography, geometric patterns, and a retro-inspired color palette featuring warm oranges, earthy neutrals, and muted blues. The identity balances clean layouts with playful details to create a brand that feels creative without becoming overwhelming.
To support the brand's positioning, I created a complete visual system including logo concepts, color palettes, typography pairings, packaging design, merchandise, and brand guidelines.
Every element was designed to reinforce Urban Grind's role as a "third space"—a destination that serves as more than a coffee shop by providing an environment for focus, creativity, and connection.
